Knob Creek Small Batch 12 Year

Distillery: Jim Beam

Age: 12 Years

Proof: 100

Verdict: Probably the most well-balanced bourbon I’ve tasted to date.

Score: 8.12

Knob Creek’s 12-year-old small batch expression is sort of in the middle of the typical whiskey price range.  It’s not rare and it doesn’t boast a super unique flavor profile, but it’s possibly the most well-balanced thing I’ve tasted to date.

The nose starts off sweet and oaky with hints of caramel and baking spices.  The sip gives notes of vanilla, caramel, and definitely some prevalent oak.  Spice comes in at the end and lingers on the palate for a medium finish – or just the right amount of time.  It’s polished and harmonious all the way through.

This one is not difficult to find, and if you like bourbon then you should.  That’s about all there is to say about it.
